About Llancarfan
Growing up I always had lots of dogs
and cats as pets, but in 1969 on my arrival in Australia to have my
second child I purchased my first Pembroke Welsh Corgi, as a substitute
for a gorgeous ginger cat which I had to leave behind....The Corgi's
name was Charles (what else for a Welsh Prince!) and I though I might
have fun showing him, which I did with some success, and this began my
association with Corgis. I added a little sable bitch a year later and
so it went on - we showed, we won, we lost...we had fun.....

And I decided a Corgi Kennel was not complete without a Cardigan Corgi
or two or six, and I branched out into Cardigans as well as
Pembrokes.... Again, we showed with success, and we lost with grace,
and we had fun....
I also have had a love affair with Curly Coated Retreivers for a
considerable time with three of them trying to rule the
household....and also my dearest Giant Schnauzer, Freya, whom I lost in
March 2001... Thoughts of her will always bring tears to my eyes

BUT....during the later
years, I had "smaller" in mind and wondered about going into something
a little less in size and remembered when I was a child I had an orange
"Big Pom" as they were then called...(see photo below)
(This is an Australian photo, by Tasma studio, Newtown, NSW -
circa 1920) and when I did a
scout around I discovered the Big Poms were actually the German Spitz.

I found Ann Walters
was selling out of the breed so I acquired AUST CH SHELBRAE RHYTHM AND
BLUES ("Possum", pictured right at 13 years young) and then AUST CH
ELHAMRA EBONY LACE. Both these girls led me deeper into the German
Spitz.
